AN INTRODUCTION TO ALLERGY

An allergy is defined as an abnormal and excessive response of the immune system against normally harmless substances. To put it simply – your body is defending itself from an organism it thinks is dangerous.

Allergic people may come into contact with these substances in the air through the digestive tract or the skin. Substances harmless to most people, like certain foods, pollen, animals… are recognised as strange and harmful by the body of an allergic person.

The seemingly innocuous substance is mistakenly marked by the immune system and becomes an allergen.
